Rambunctious...that is our little Jorja. On Sunday she jumped up and scratched Erik's nose pretty bad. Not too deep but enough to leave a mark. He is ok. Today when I got home from work, I let the girls go play outside. They did and wrastled. See my hubby's latest blog for wrastling. http://edgeofthegalaxy.blogspot.com Well, Arwyn had grass all over her and I was not about to let her go into the living room and get it all over the place. So, being a good mommy, I was going to brush them out in the kitchen so I could sweep up easily. Well, our rambunctious Jorja girl got me in the lip with her tooth! I knew it was bleeding and I could tell it was torn. Thankfully it was just the corner. Now most people don't know this, but I can look at surgery, I watched my niece come into this world, and I can handle blood on NCIS or CSI, but to look at my own injuries is a little difficult for me to do. So after dabbing away some blood, I went to the bathroom to have a look. Well, it was not just a scratch. It was deep. I called Erik and he rushed home. Oh, that's a funny story, I will get to it in a minute. I started to cry--partly because I was scared (it's deep people!) and because no body was home to be with me in my misery. I called Melissa (sister #3) and cried. She is good with this sort of thing. She has 2 kids, you put the two together. She couldn't come over so I wait.
Well, Erik got home. WITH A POLICE OFFICER AT THE DOOR!!! He thought I was in grave danger so he rushed home and got caught! Luckily he didn't get a ticket. So, we decided to go to the ER for safety's sake.
After only an hour I got called to the back (after Triage and a tetanus shot) I get seen by a nurse practitioner. She looks and says, "Yeah, it will need a stitch." I figured this would be the result. Hoping not, but ok if it was. The funny thing is, ERIK DID NOT GO BACK WITH ME! Some hubby! Well, she came in, numbed me up--I am a trooper with needles these days, and began to stitch away.
2 stitches later I am discharged and forever not getting my face near Jorja's again!

In fairness, I feel compelled to point out that I asked if Alli wanted me to go back with her and she said I did not have to. I'll let you take that for what it's worth. And I'm also just fine with the blood & guts on TV, but I can't watch surgery, nor can I handle watching someone else get operated upon. It must be my weak stomach! I plead out. I'm guilty of a weak constitution. Sorry honey, I would have been less than a good hubby had I gone back with you...you would have been tired of my complaining in about 3 minutes. So I can only beg your forgiveness! Please. It doesn't mean I don't care - I do. But I really thought they did way too much. Personally, I never would have gone to the hospital for myself in that situation - you are obviously the wiser of the two of us, choosing to get treated to avoid possible infection. My bad. I'll do better next time.
And in fairness, to the police officer, I told him twice that I would accept the consequences of my actions and take full responsibility for travelling faster than the acceptable speed limit in our neighborhood. He choose not to give me a ticket or warning of his own volition.

Now that's a funny story..
First of all, Erik, when a woman says "you don't have to" that's her way of saying "it would be in your best interest to go with her". Second, I have never in my life heard so many lame excusses.
Alli, I hope you will soon recover and without the added presence of reminders.
Have a GREAT birthday.
Poor Alli! So that's what happened!
I am glad that you went and got stitches, that way your lip can heal nicely w/o any deformations, unlike my thumb which I cut while carving a pumpkin and the doc laughed at me, put a bandaid on it and sent me home. Now my thumb is permanently damaged! But Erik, Scott did go with me and watched the whole thing too and probably would have put a stitch in himself for me, it they and I would have let him!
