Sleep Depravation?!?!?!

Ok, so I am a new mom. Albeit, a puppy mommy, but a mommy nonetheless. I am sleep deprived. I am really taking this puppy thing too seriously. I put the babies (as my friend Heather has referred to them) to bed and tell them, "Good girls!" just so they will know I really love them. They are in a kennel in the kitchen and it's open. They have not quite got the potty thing down yet. I think the problem is that they go on the wee-wee pads when I am here, but if not, forget it. Erik and I run around like crazy with the stain remover. And every time I turn around I am looking for a chew toy to stop the need to taste our furniture! I think i have it all wrong. Gotta get it together. My brother says don't spoil them. For instance, last night, they cried at 3 AM--no joking, cried! I could not go back to sleep. So, being the crazy dog lovin' mother I am, I went in there, got them a snack and sat up until 4 AM until they went to sleep. I overslept! Can't tell you the last time that happened! I was not late for work by my boss's standards, but by mine. Didn't like that one bit. I wish I could snap my fingers, have these girls trained and be on with it! Nope...that's the life of a puppy lovin' momma! Well, gotta go. Somebody is chewing on my shoes, it's 11:16, and it's time for bed! Night night!

well...

We have 2, yes, 2 new additions to our home. I told you last week or so that we were getting Arwyn. Well, she has an older sister (only older by minutes of course) and we decided to take her too. I was worried Arwyn would be lonely. She has been a little scared today. She is shivering and is not too sure of her new home. However, her big sister (--yep, she is big!! lots of rolls and cute as a button, might I add) came along and she is adjusting just fine! Erik named her. There was a lot of discussion about that. My sister Melissa chimed in with some really good suggestions. Our other 2 babies (kitty babies) are named Obi Wan and Geordi. Named after characters from movies (and TV). Arwyn is an elf from Lord of the Rings (my favorite). Mel said we should not break our routine/cycle/whatever you all it. But, alas, Erik won out. Well, acutally, I came up with the name and he decided that was it. We named the bigger girl Jorja. Yeah, I know, another crazy name. But it fits. One of our favorite characters on CSI was played by Jorja Fox. We talked a long time ago about the name and how much we liked it. It also fits well because, well, we lived in Georgia for over 5 years. I am adding some pictures. I hope you enjoy! We will update you on our babies as they grow. We are so excited! Melissa (sister) is getting 2 of the brothers. I told her we could schedule play dates! Hee hee! :)

Introducing....Arwyn Barlik

Introducing... Jorja Barlik

Arwyn is lighter in color. Right now she has 2 blue eyes (mom is mostly husky and has beautiful blue eyes...we hope this stays that way!) Jorja is darker in color. She also has black tipped ears and her white streak is not as big as lil' sister Arwyn. Jorja has 1 dark eye (brown or black??) and 1 blue eye. Different, but very cute! They both have white paws and white bellies. Jorja is bigger and Arwyn was the runt. So she is smaller. They are gonna be so much fun!

A New Addition

Another week..not a lot going on. Except that Erik and I will welcome a new addition to our family this weekend. I went shopping for her today. I got her a chew toy, some wee-wee pads, a collar and leash...what???? It's a puppy! :) Her name is Arwyn...I know, I know...weird name. With a cat named Geordi and another named Obi-wan what do you expect? Now we have Star Wars, Star Trek, and The Lord of The Rings represented. She is a certified mix, the best kind in my opinion. She will be six weeks old this Sunday. Her mom has the lightest blue eyes and dad is a Rott. She won't be huge, but big enough. Her eyes are blue! Yeah! She has a white stripe down her face and is light brown with dark brown ears. I can't wait until she gets here. I would love to bring her sister too. I am worried she will be lonely. Erik is not sure about this, but I plan on helping him. We have to train her well. This is going to be my excuse to leave school in the afternoons! I will have to get home to our baby. I will post pictures as soon as we get some taken. OH!! Speaking of babies, my friend Carissa had her baby boy on Sunday. He is a cutie. Link to the Sanders page from mine and check little Wil out. Congrats Carissa and Jason!
More to say later gator!

Happy New Year, a little late!

It has been so busy.  Erik is sick with a terrible cold.  I still have Christmas "stuff" up and I have to go back to school on Monday.  We went to Simpsonville on Wednesday night to see our friend Kayte, her hubby, and her new baby girl Kayden. All was well when we left Blythewood.
We also saw Erik's family.  We stayed at Kayte's mom's house (did that make sense???) and visited for the evening.  We played their Wii--I beat Erik on bowling!  We rang in the new year with a little sparkling grape juice and had a good time. I took pictures but I have not uploaded them yet.  Sorry.
On Thursday we spent the day with Mom and Dad Barlik.  It was a lazy, relaxing kind of day.  Dad grilled out steaks--yeah in the cold!  And we had a nice dinner together.  No, we didn't have the traditional southern fare to eat.  Erik's parents are not fans of collard greans and hog jawls!  I could have eaten my fill of peas and rice though!  Oh well, our dinner was great anyway.  We watched the terrible football game between Carolina and Iowa.  I don't even know if it was a game!  Anyway, Erik drove most of the way home because my knee is crunching.  Don't ask.  I guess my advanced workout was a little too advanced.  I either tore a ligament or dislocated something.  I go to my doctor on Tuesday.  I am sure he will let me know what happened.  The good thing is it does not hurt except to get up or if I tweek it.  I am trying hard not to tweek it.  Pray for me!
Upon our arrival home, we assumed all was well and good at Hotel Barlik here in Blythewood. However, on my inspection the next morning (Friday) I discovered that our back yard was burned and our wooden privacy fence was also burned.  A post was kicked down, our water hose was off of the hook/holder and my gate was open.  YIKES!!  DOUBLE YIKES!! I immediately woke Erik up from his slumber (he was beginning to feel the yukiness he feels today).  I got semi-dressed and went to really inspect.  I found firework remnants!!  :(  My neighbor's yard was burnt as well.  It came so close to the house.  Now, our home has vinyl siding and that stuff melts so stinking fast.  Luckily, blessed really, ours was not touched. So, I called the sherriff's department, the home owners association, and our insurance company.  They were all very nice and helpful.  I also talked with the fire department--who did come out I found out.  Got that report today and was surprised that no one called 911 for 45 minutes!!  HOLY MOLY!!  Well, the neighbor's home suffered melting siding and the fireman told the lady that lives next door that she should have called sooner because it could have caused our home to burn.  The sad thing is, the ladies that live next door are part of a group home and they didn't even know there was a fire until someone knocked on their door to tell them.  Those ladies are handicapped and I am so glad they got out.  What does make me mad is that it was fireworks!  I have never had a problem with them in the past, but I know that it was windy on Wednesday night and it was dry!  Hello?? That combo does not make for happy new year people!
The next step is to get estimates to replace the fence.  We are praying that it won't be too terribly expensive.  We have to get it fixed because our little puppy angel Arwyn will be coming home in a few weeks.  She will need to be safe in her yard.  :)
Well, I am ready for Monday (not really).  I hope my next post is not so sporadic!
