Fireworks???? Really?????
Ok, so you may know that our yard and fence caught fire on New Year's Eve. It came within about 2 feet of our house. We were not home. Right now I am up in the Alli room listening to the neighbors shoot them off. Needless to say I am not happy and it has not rained here in a almost a week. Going to watch my yard now. Hopefully it will be fine. A rule needs to be made or somthin!

Heavy Hearts...
Again, our hearts are sad. My sweet Uncle Jimmy Hatchell went to be with the Lord this past Friday night. He was my Daddy's younger brother (all of them are younger actually because Daddy is the oldest). We were at the Hospice Home with him, surrounded by his kids, grand kids, and even 1 or 2 great-grands when he left us. He was 80 years old. He served our country and loved his family, golf, and his garden very much. He was very sick but he told one doctor recently that he was ready to go see Louise, his bride of over 50 years. We rest in the fact that he IS with Jesus right now, playing golf, tending the Heavenly gardens, or just dancing with Aunt Louise. He will be missed greatly. Today the family said goodbye and celebrated his life.
I know my cousins are tired and have a lot to do in the days and months to come, but they are strong and they will be ok. My prayer is that Uncle Jimmy's memories will come to mind and they will smile, not shed too many tears.
Situations like this bring many people "home". It is also a reminder that you should tell your family you love them and enjoy the time you have together. Take advantage of the time you are given, even if under the not so good circumstances. I know this is something I will be doing this week.

Home and School
Erik and I made it home on Wednesday. It was hard leaving. I always have a hard time saying goodbye to Grampa, Erik's Mom's dad. We stayed with him during our trip. It is such a blessing to have grandparents. I found that out as soon as Erik and I were serious and engaged. I told all three of Erik's grandparents when we were engaged that they were going to be my grandparents too. I didn't really give them a choice. They were ok with that. They treated me just like I had been in the family for ages. Grampa still does. I am a lucky girl because I can really appreciate them in a way some kids don't.
In Massachusetts, we said goodbye to MiMi and we were able to take Grandad Barlik back to the place he really loved--Savoy, where he had a little place, out in the country--not far from Adams. That's where Erik's family is from. We were able to spread his ashes on the property. Grandad passed away almost a year ago. We still miss him, but there is closure for us now. Our next trip would possibly be to Florida, where we will honor MiMi's wishes as well. For now, we are content with how things worked out.
Our plane trips were uneventful, and I thank God for that! I actually, I can't believe I am going to say it, enjoyed the last flight. Whodathunk this girl wouldn't mind flying? Not me!
School is out officially for my kiddos after 11:30 AM on June 5. To say that I am ready is an understatement. I am ready for summer vacation to begin. Just lookin' at my legs says all I need to know--the beach!!
Until later...
